Searching for the right venue for your event can feel like wading through treacle - we’ve all been there. You want a venue that’s the right size, in the right location, with the right facilities and the right look. Easier said than done! Or is it…?
Our Unique Venue of the Month may be just what you've been looking for. With spaces to suit every event type, scale and budget, it’s got something for everyone - whether you’re planning a luxury wedding, drinks reception, summer party, or any other weird and wonderful occasion. And it's got just the right amount of wow factor!
Intrigued? Here are 9 reasons why The Brewery is the unusual event venue in London you’ve been dreaming of.
1. Born to entertain
Sometimes, it pays to choose an experienced venue that’s done it all before. If that’s the case, you’re in luck - this site has been entertaining guests since 1750! That’s because The Brewery is situated on what was once the Whitbread brewery in East London. Keen to keep traditions alive, The Brewery still functions with the same level of high-class service as what once made the Whitbread brewery the largest in the world.
2. Fit for royalty
If you’re looking for somewhere extra special for your next event, look no further. The Brewery is a venue fit for royalty, having played host to King George III and his family back in 1787. It was this visit that inspired the names of two of The Brewery’s spaces - the King George III and Queen Charlotte rooms. There really is no place better to treat your guests like Kings and Queens!
3. A gruesome talking point
This Grade II listed, 18th Century building may be beautiful, but it hasn’t always had a history of roses and butterflies. In 1815, the founder’s son cut his throat ‘from ear to ear’ because of worries about the brewery. Then in 1834 John Martineau, who merged the brewery with his own in 1812, was found dead in a yeast trough! The reason for death was given as ‘died by the visitation of God’. What a conversation-starter!
4. Original features
We’re all on the lookout for that ‘wow’ moment when we first set foot in an event venue. And no matter what your event, you’re guaranteed to get plenty of wows at The Brewery. We’re talking exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, Georgian windows, oak flooring… the list goes on (and that’s not to mention the state-of-the-art lighting, sound and tech!).
5. Star-studded guest lists
The Brewery has previously played host to big names including Kanye West, Adele, Tom Hardy and Kim Kardashian! So next time you want to throw a red-carpet-worthy event, you’ll know where to come. We can’t guarantee celebs in attendance, but there will be glitz and glamour aplenty.
6. Wonderful wine
The historical brewery may have risen to fame for producing a dark beer called porter, but now it’s wine you won’t be able to get enough of. The Brewery hand-picks all of the wines they serve, travelling back to the source and seeing how growers produce it, to make sure you’re getting the very best.
7. Food, glorious food
Got a crowd to feed or guests to impress? The Brewery’s award-winning chefs and local suppliers can cater to any event, and can even work with you to design your own bespoke menu. Woodland-themed dishes? Check. Menus centred around low food miles? Check. Your imagination’s the limit!
8. Made for you
The Brewery’s sheer size means it can host any event - from large awards ceremonies, conferences and parties to more intimate wedding receptions, meetings and private dining. With a choice of 6 rooms and two courtyard marquees, its spaces range in capacity from 50 to 1,000 people. Plus, it has a team of experienced event designers ready to make your vision a reality, whatever your scale or budget.
9. A capital location
You’ve picked the venue, chosen the food, put together a seating plan… now you just need to make sure people come! Luckily, you’ll find The Brewery right in the heart of London, just a short walk from Liverpool Street, Moorgate, Barbican and Bank tube stations. So, when it comes to making it to your next event, your guests really have no excuse.
