When you think of The Cotswolds, you automatically think of the beautiful scenery and a relaxing time away and The Fish Hotel certainly didn't disappoint.
After a short train journey, I got picked up from the station and taken directly to the Farncombe Estate which houses three of the most beautiful stays in The Cotswolds, The Fish Hotel, Dormy House and Foxhill Manor.
As soon as I arrived I was blown away. The views were amazing and I instantly felt relaxed.
I was ushered out to the back of the main bar to a terrace area where we enjoyed some Pimm's, a perfect pairing with the sunny weather.
I stayed in one of the Outhouse suites which are ideal for a couple or small family as it also has a sofa bed. It was designed in a lovely Scandinavian theme which they carry throughout the hotel. All rooms vary slightly - some cosy rural retreats, others a little larger and you can even stay in the treehouse rooms.
Next on the agenda was a fabulous outdoor experience which involved axe throwing and crossbow shooting, I must say my aim wasn’t too good! However it was great fun and not your average away day experience, but The Fish can provide a full range of activities even including segways for you to explore the estate.
Following the exhausting but wild activity, we were given the full tour around the whole estate. There were so many beautiful romantic spots but also spaces for corporate away days and even a cinema. There really is so much on offer.
In the evening we visited The Hook, The Fish Hotel’s onsite restaurant specialising in responsibly sourced and sustainable fish and shellfish (who would have thought?). Seated out on the feasting deck, they prepared an amazing feasting dinner, cooked right in front of us. We were surrounded by amazing views, great company and tasty food.
The next morning we were all up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed to make the trip back to London, it was so sad to be leaving such a beautiful place. We made our way back into the Hook for breakfast, where we enjoyed the large buffet of cereals, croissants and the usual continental options as well as a range of cooked breakfast options. On the train back to London, all I kept thinking about is how I’m going to be returning to The Fish or another one of the beautiful properties on the Farncombe Estate, it really is a lovely stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Perfect for couples or even corporate away days, it's a memorable experience for all.
