The Top 3 Vintage Wedding Venues In London

Vintage weddings are certainly in vogue at the moment but to capture the true magic of previous eras, you'll need more than just Grandma's crinkly old dress and Dad standing behind the groom with shotgun in hand. Hire Space knows exactly what it takes to provide the most memorable of vintage weddings. James Roche brings you three top venues!

Hackney Empire

Combine your love of all things vintage with a wedding celebration at the world-renowned Hackney Empire!

If you're like me, you probably don't have enough mates to fill the magnificent auditorium space but that doesn't mean you can't take advantage of this resplendent, Grade-II listed Edwardian music hall and its terrific event spaces.

It may be equipped with full conference and internet facilities, but none of the vintage charm is lost within the cosy Harold Pinter Room - the ideal ceremony or reception space for up to 80 guests. Unwind with a few drinks afterwards in the Circle and Upper Bars and you've got yourself a vintage wedding day to remember!

The Victorian Living Room at The Old Queen's Head

A popular location for vintage film and photography shoots, this venue might seem like an obvious choice for our list but as I discovered during my internet dating phase, pictures can be quite deceiving.

Luckily for us, the Victorian Living Room at The Old Queen's Head is more impressive than even our brilliant photographs suggest, with its authentic features and decor creating a superb ambience and real, vintage feel. Combine that with a private Victorian salon suitable for up to 150 guests(complete with great sound system, DJ equipment, delicious food and drinks) and The Old Queen's Head provides one amazing Vintage Wedding Reception space.

Stationers' Hall and Garden

Stationers' Hall and Garden

Dating back to 1673, the Stationers' Hall is one of the few ancient Livery Halls remaining in the City. I'm not exactly sure what the difference between a period and a vintage wedding is but with an historic events space like this at your disposal, I don't think it really matters - classically elegant and versatile, this venue can handle both with aplomb.

With stained-glass windows and a unique, yet inviting atmosphere, the Livery Hall is the largest space available for hire, while The Court Room is fabulously opulent and ideal for breakout sessions. Fancy showing off your "boogie drop," "jazz hands" or Charleston steps? The Stock Room joins the two larger spaces and is perfect for dancing and drinks (although not always in that order).

Hire Space may be a company in its infancy but just like our venues, we continue to get better with age. For more information on these or any of our other fantastic spaces, check out our website.
